Hello STEP students,
We have several events coming up this week:
1. Check out our new blog www.stepsmcc.blogspot.com. We will post important information about STEP, campus events, and SCHOLARSHIP opportunities on this site on a weekly basis.
2. Tuesday, April 14th we will have a Managing Stress Workshop taught by Thomas Kirsch at 12:15 p.m. This workshop is especially valuable now that we are headed into the last few weeks of school and final projects and exams are due. This workshop counts as 1 Personal Development unit toward Grant Aid.
3. Wednesday, April 15th we will a Financial Literacy Workshop taught by Wells Fargo Bank at 12:15 p.m. Come learn information about managing your finances and protecting your credit. This workshop counts as 1 Personal Development or 1 Financial Unit toward Grant Aid.
4. The last workshop of the semester will be Tuesday April 21 at 12:15 p.m. The workshop is Refining Research and Citing Sources taught by Lora Largo, just in time to help you with those final projects and research papers! This workshop counts as 1 Academic Unit toward Grant Aid.
5. The campus tour to Ottawa University on Friday, April 17 has been cancelled.
6. We will be visiting ASU West on Friday, April 24th. Stop by the STEP Office to sign up for this tour. Don’t forget to bring your unofficial transcripts if you would like to meet with a transfer advisor.
7. Save the date! You should be receiving an invitation to our End of the Year Ceremony on Wednesday April 29 from noon – 1:30 p.m. We will have a special guest speaker and STEP students’ accomplishments will be recognized. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us for this special event. Please RSVP by stopping by the STEP office, sending me an email, or calling the office at 602.305.5676.
8. Tuesday, April 14, from 11:00-1:30 is our "Engineering Your Future" event in the SU. Please stop by and see our engineering students compete, and encourage all students who are thinking about majoring in engineering to attend. There will be free pizza and drinks. This event counts as 1 Academic Unit toward Grant Aid.
9. Tuesday, April 14 the Office of Student Life is hosting Spring Fling. Five dollars buys you admission which includes food, rides, and more! This event will be held in the LRC Patio and Amphitheater.
10. We have a new scholarship available for STEP students. It is the Martens scholarship. It is only available for STEP students. Check our blog for more information or stop by the office to pick up an application. Hurry, the deadline is April 17 at 4:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity. Don’t let it pass you by!
11. Have you completed your FAFSA for 2009-2010? Financial Aid (FAFSA) workshops are also being held every WEDNESDAY, in TLC225, 1pm.
12. Fall Priority Registration is now available! If you would like assistance selecting your classes, please stop by the office to schedule an appointment to meet with Laura or give us a call at 602.305.5676. If you have already registered, please drop off a copy of your schedule so that we can update our files.
