What's Up with STEP 3/30-4/3

Hello STEP Students,

We have a few events coming up this week:

1. Wednesday, April 1 at 12:15 p.m. we will have a Career Exploration/Cover Letter Workshop taught by Tara Nichols from Career Services. This workshop will help you determine what career is right for you AND will show you how to write a great cover letter. This workshop counts as 1 Personal Development unit toward GRANT AID.

2. Thursday, April 2 at 12:15 p.m. we will have a Personal Statement Workshop taught by our English tutor, Kevin O’Neil. If you don’t have a personal statement or are looking to polish your statement, this is the workshop for you! This workshop counts as 1 Financial unit toward GRANT AID.

3. Looking for a community service opportunity? Friday, April 3 at 11:00 a.m. in front of the SMCC Performing Arts Center you can help the St. Mary’s Food Bank distribute food to the needy. You don’t need to register to help, just make sure you sign-in when you get there to get credit from the STEP Program. This volunteer opportunity counts as 1 Personal Development unit toward GRANT AID.

4. Do you want to tour the ASU Tempe Main Campus? We will be visiting ASU’s main campus on Friday, April 3. We will meet at 8:30 and leave promptly from the STEP Office at 8:45. Please come in to the office to complete the field trip paperwork if you plan on attending this campus tour as soon as possible! This campus tour counts at 1 Academic unit toward GRANT AID.

5. We have a new blog! Check it out at http://www.stepsmcc.blogspot.com/. Please bookmark this page and check it frequently. We will be posting our weekly updates here and important information about SCHOLARSHIPS and other opportunities for STEP students.

6. We have a new scholarship available for STEP students. It is the Martens scholarship. It is only available for STEP students. Check our blog for more information or stop by the office to pick up an application. Hurry, the deadline is April 17 at 4:30 p.m.
