Hello STEP Students,
We have a few announcements this week:
- Tuesday, April 12 at 12:15 p.m. we are pleased to offer the Scholarship Workshop taught by financial aid expert Alicia Goodwin. This is the only time this semester this workshop will be offered. Don’t miss out!
- Wednesday, April 13 at 12:15 we have our last workshop of the semester on How to Prevent Identity Theft. Please join us so that you can learn how to protect yourself and your family.
- You should receive an invitation to the STEP End of the Year Ceremony in the mail this week. The event will be Thursday, April 28 from 12-1:30 p.m. in SU 100. We will have a motivational speaker and lunch. Please plan on joining us to celebrate graduates and STEP students on their accomplishments. This event is open to all STEP students. If you do not receive the invitation, please stop by the office to update your address.
- Don’t forget – the Martens Scholarship is due this Friday, April 15 by 4:30 p.m. This scholarship is only open to STEP Students. Many of you frequently inquire about available scholarships. Please take advantage of this opportunity!
- We still have tickets available for Mamma Mia! We will be attending on Thursday, May 19 from 4:45 p.m. to 11 p.m. Please stop by the office to complete field trip paperwork to secure your spot.
- If you received any kind of special award, internship opportunity, scholarship, etc. please let us know so that you can be recognized in our PowerPoint presentation at the End of the Year Ceremony or a future newsletter. Please email Sianna at Sianna.Kent@smcmail.maricopa.edu.
- Summer and Fall Registration are now open. If you have not met with Laura this academic year to update your check sheet, please make an appointment to meet with her by calling 602.305.5676. Remember, you must meet with Laura at least once a semester to remain in good standing with the STEP Program.
- Are you planning your schedule for the Fall? Please keep in mind that STEP Workshops are typically Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 12:15-1:15 p.m.
- SMCC is looking for outstanding and interested students who are friendly, enthusiastic, looking for additional leadership skills, have a cumulative college GPA of 2.7, enrolled in at least 6 credit hours, are in good academic and disciplinary standing and believe in the mission of South Mountain Community College and the Cougar Ambassadors Program.
