McKee Family Scholarship - Additional Criteria
· Preference for students who graduated from South Mountain High School or Central High School or graduated from South Mountain Community College or Phoenix College.
· Preference for recipients completing their junior year (sophomore at time of application).
· Preference for students in the following majors: African and African American studies, American Indian studies, justice studies, religious studies, transborder Chicana/o and Latina/o studies and women and gender studies.
· Letter of recommendation required.
· Recipients must provide evidence of commitment to the community through service and a personal statement that reflects both academic and personal goals.
First-Generation Scholarships At Arizona State University.
Applications for 2010 scholarships are now available and close May 14, 2010.
First-generation college students enrolled in undergraduate degree programs in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences may apply for approximately $16,000 in scholarships. First generation scholarship applications are available each spring and scholarships are awarded and distributed for the fall and spring semesters.
There are several different scholarships with varied application criteria. Only one application is required for all scholarships. Students will be considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible.
The scholarships listed below are open to students in all majors in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (approximate scholarship amounts for 2010-11).
Please review the criteria for each scholarship before completing the application to be sure that you meet the requirements.
· Bidstrup Foundation First-Generation Scholarships (approximately ten scholarships of $1,000 each)
· CLAS Alumni First-Generation Scholarship (one scholarship of approximately $1,500)
· CLAS First-Generation Scholarships (three scholarships of approximately $600 each)
· Dean’s Advancement Council First-Generation Scholarship (one scholarship of approximately $600)
· Al and Viola Madrid Endowed Scholarship (one scholarship of approximately $1,200)
· McKee Family Scholarship (one scholarship of approximately $900)
· John and Susan Rockefeller First-Generation Scholarship (one scholarship of approximately $1,200)
· Faire Elizabeth Virgin Sax Scholarships (up to 3 scholarships of approximately $7,000 each)
There are also First-Generation scholarships available for students in specific majors.

Selection Process
Students must complete and submit all application materials to Michele Daley, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Office of Student and Academic Programs, Fulton Center, Suite 135, 300 E. University Dr., Tempe, AZ 85287-6405, by 5pm, Friday May 14, 2010. The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences First-Generation Scholarship Selection Committee selects the recipients. All applicants will be notified by the end of July.
