STEP this week 2/1-2/5

Hello STEP Students,

I hope you are enjoying the semester so far. We have a few announcements for this week:

• If you are planning on transferring for the Fall 2010, now is the time to apply to the University. Please stop by the office or call 602.305.5676 to make an appointment to see Laura, our academic advisor.
• Application Fee Waivers are available for students who are looking to transfer to ASU, U of A, or NAU. Please stop by the office to fill out the Application Fee Waiver Form and be prepared to meet with Laura to briefly discuss your transfer plans. Please keep in mind that each school will waive their application fee ONE TIME only. Also, you need to fill out the application form on-line before you request the waiver.
• We will be attending two Broadway shows this semester at ASU Gammage: Mary Poppins February 25 and In the Heights on June 17. Please stop by the STEP office to fill out field trip paperwork to reserve your spot for one or both of these events. Remember, tickets are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Tutoring is now available in English & Math. Stop by the office to pick up a tutoring schedule and a calendar of events if you don’t already have these.
• Student Life is looking for applicants for the LeaderShape Institute, a program for students interested in developing their leadership skills. LeaderShape is a five day program held at Central Arizona College June 8-13. For more information, see Buddy Cheeks in Student Life. See the flyer and brochure.

• Calling all volunteers! On Friday, February 5 at 11:00 a.m. in front of the PAC on campus South Mountain Community College employees and students will help their neighbors by packing and selling low-cost boxes of food as volunteers for the St. Mary’s/Westside Food Bank Alliance. Please see Student Life for more information . Also, make sure you sign in to get credit for the STEP Program.
